Pregnant ladies should take care of the following things in their diet :
- Meals should not be skipped. Small quantities of food should be taken at short intervals.
- Including egg and meat in diet will help meet the protein requirements along with 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables to maintain a good level of fibre intake and hence prevent constipation
- Minimum 3 glasses of milk should be taken to meet the calcium requirements and prevent bone disorders. Green leafy vegetables should be added in the meals.
- Raw fruits and vegetables will help with Vitamin C needs.
- Diet should include fish, flax seeds and soybean to meet the requirement of omega -3 fatty acid
- Too much coffee and tea should be avoided.
